AI-assisted Language Learning and L2 proficiency in various language domains : A systematic review

Abstract:
Artificial Intelligence(AI) is a broad computer science field that mainly focuses on creating smart machines that can perform human intelligence requiring tasks. It can be prominently conducted in various areas. In language acquisition, AI programming takes 3 cognitive processes into consideration. The processes include reasoning processes, learning processes, and self-correction processes. This paper systematically reviews the current research on AI-Assisted Language Education(AILE). This review emphasized the ethical considerations using AI-assisted language tools. Also, It highlights the role of AI in numerous language domains. For this systematic review 18 studies dating from 2005 through 2024 were selected to highlight the foci of this field of research.The results of this paper revealed that the novel ways of teaching English using AI as an assistant can have a drastic impact on various students' language learning aspects such as motivation ,attainment,and attitudes. The findings of this study will shed lights on how to implement AI assisted Language Learning and teaching to enhance L2 learning considering some logical concerns.
