چکیده مقاله
In today’s technology-driven educational landscape, the significance of digital literacy (DL) for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers is multifaceted. Farhangian University provides student teachers with a chance to gain professional practice by presenting the internship program, where experienced mentor teachers guide them through their professional development. Thus, possessing a high level of DL seems crucial for mentors as their role models. However, examining the DL levels of EFL student teachers, as the mentees, and mentor teachers participating in internship programs is a neglected field. Accordingly, this case study was designed to compare (a) the DL levels of Farhangian University EFL mentees and mentors in Isfahan province from their own perspectives, and (b) the mentors’ and mentees’ perceptions of each other’s digital competencies. Using convenient sampling method, the researchers administered the adapted form of a reliable and valid questionnaire (Dashtestani & Hojatpanah, 2021) to 34 female EFL mentees as well as to 28 female EFL mentor teachers. The results revealed that both groups possessed varying degrees of DL across different applications and tools. Mentor teachers generally rated their own DL levels lower, compared to those of student teachers, highlighting a generational gap in digital proficiency. However, the mentees were not digitally literate enough to implement the newest technology in their teaching practices in practicum courses. The findings can contribute to the development of essential digital skills needed for modern evolving teaching environments.
