Emerging Research Trends and Technological Applications in English Education for Tehran High schools

چکیده مقاله
This paper examines the extent of the trends and the role of informatics and new technologies in the period between 2018 and 2024 in the field of English education for high schools. This study was prepared based on online questionnaires sent to 200 high school teachers in the 13th and 14th districts of Tehran. Based on 190 responses received from 48 girls' and boys' high schools in the 13th and 14th districts of Tehran, some current trends and tendencies in the field of educational informatics are: Artificial intelligence, virtual reality/augmented reality, gamification, adaptive learning (determining the content and difficulty level of questions based on student performance), social media, Internet of Things and mobile learning.
The results showed that the top three current research trends and educational informatics in ٍ English education include gamification,, social media,, and artificial intelligence, respectively. Technological tools have not only revolutionized education, but have also been effective in student educational evaluation, can identify their strengths and weaknesses, and allow teachers to organize their teaching methods to meet the needs of individual students. It also equips students with the skills needed to succeed in the 21st century.
