| In the rapidly evolving landscape of education, technology has emerged as a transformative force in English language assessment. This paper explores the integration of technology in English language assessment, highlighting its benefits and challenges. This research was conducted through a descriptive-analytical approach. It involved the use of documents and library sources to identify the challenges and benefits of the integration of technology in English language assessment. The data was extracted from documents, materials, texts, specialized libraries, and internet sources. No time constraints were applied for searching and gathering information from databases to ensure the comprehensiveness of the research. Data analysis was carried out using a descriptive manner, reflecting on different approaches, types of studies, and their classification. In this study, various technological innovations, including computer-based testing, automated scoring systems, and adaptive learning environments, are examined for their ability to provide real-time feedback and personalized learning experiences. Additionally, the challenges associated with technology in assessment, such as issues of equity, data privacy, and the need for pedagogical alignment, are addressed. Through a review of current practices and case studies, it is illustrated how technology not only streamlines the assessment process but also enriches the learning experience for both educators and learners. Ultimately, a balanced approach is advocated that leverages technology’s strengths while remaining mindful of its limitations, aiming to create inclusive and effective English language assessment practices for diverse learner populations. |
