چکیده مقاله |
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing education by improving teaching and learning. Writing has always been challenging for EFL students, due to complex grammar rules and limited vocabulary. This study compared the effectiveness of various AI-assisted writing tools and their impact on EFL writing, highlighting key components, strengths, weaknesses, use cases, constraints, and more. This study compared and interpreted data from various references to evaluate the effectiveness of AI-assisted writing tools. All examined AI assistants positively impact writing performance, with some having a more pronounced effect. However, using AI may lead to over-reliance, which can hinder the development of independent writing skills. AI supports writing across many fields, and AI technologies also enhance accuracy and contextual relevance via Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). AI-assisted writing tools enhance self-directed learning and students' independence by offering instant feedback. However, these tools cannot replace teachers' comprehensive feedback. Key findings also include challenges such as overfitting, data security, and ethical concerns. Issues of misinformation, the necessity for accurate verification, and fairness also arise. Thus, balancing AI utility with human insight, clear rules, and ethical practices, are necessary for successful integration to prevent compromising academic competence and creativity. Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and adequate training must be taken into account to fasten teacher supervision in utilizing Generative AI (GenAI) for writing education. AI-assisted writing tools should be used as a supplementary tool rather than a replacement for traditional teaching methods. Continued exploration of innovative solutions is needed to meet modern education demands. |
