چکیده مقاله |
This study explores university instructors’ perceptions of academic dishonesty in online English tests (OETs), a growing concern in the era of digital education. Through interviews and questionnaires involving 31 instructors, the research delves into their views on the prevalence, motivations, and methods of cheating, as well as the effectiveness of measures to prevent it. Instructors widely perceive online exams as more prone to cheating compared to traditional face-to-face settings, attributing this to the ease of accessing digital resources and the lack of strict supervision. The findings reveal that collaborative cheating methods, such as sharing answers in virtual groups, and individual strategies, like using translation tools, are among the most common practices. Instructors offered mixed feedback on the effectiveness of preventive measures, with strategies like oral exams and analytical question design seen as relatively more effective than others. This study emphasizes the complexity of maintaining academic integrity in online assessments and highlights the urgent need for comprehensive strategies that address technological and pedagogical challenges. By providing a detailed understanding of instructors' perspectives, the research offers valuable insights for developing more robust policies to ensure fairness and credibility in online language assessments. |
